For Grey & Black Phosphate:

Parts must be free of paint or undercoating prior to you shipping them to avoid a stripping charge. Suitable methods for removing paint and undercoating include stripping, glass beading and sandblasting as this promotes plating adhesion.

For Silver, Gold, or Black:

Parts must be free of paint and undercoating prior to you shipping them. The suitable method for removing these coatings is paint stripping. You should avoid sandblasting or glass beading parts that are to be plated silver, gold, black, or zinc as this makes the surface rough and these finishes appear the best on a smooth surface.

Parts that are pitted, may be able to be polished to remove these pits, depending on the parts. Parts that have been sandblasted, and shouldn’t have been, may be polished also. There is an extra charge to polish parts as this is not a normal step for these types of plating. Phosphate plating will mask many imperfections in the metal such as pits and, as such, should never require polishing.

For Chrome:

Parts must be free of paint and undercoating prior to you shipping them.

All parts will go into an acid bath prior to be plated to remove rust, grease, old plating, etc…

Any small springs that you can remove from your parts, should be removed prior to you shipping them as these will not be plated. If in doubt, call or email first.

Parts that arrive with paint or undercoating will be subject to extra charges to remove those coatings. This will also add to the turn around time for your parts.
